Fox Hide Photography Workshop with Neil Neville and Tom Way
Tutor: Jack Lodge
Host: Neil Neville and Tom Way
I am super excited to be invited by both Neil and Tom to run private workshops for my clients at their wonderful fox hide up in Buckinghamshire where Tom has been photographing a beautiful family of red foxes on his private land since 2012, in an incredible eye-level hide in an open meadow.
Due to Tom’s commitments in Africa, his good friend and likewise, brilliant photographer (and all round amazing chap) Neil Neville has taken over the running of the hide for the foreseeable future.
Neil will be on hand throughout the session due to the gates/security etc. and will give a quick brief before the session starts so that everyone follows the hide rules, respects the wildlife they are photographing and conduct themselves properly in the hide at all times.
Afternoon Sessions (15:00-21:00)
Meet at Red Lion Pub Car Park: 14:45
Arrive at Hide: 15:00
Finish at Hide: 21:00 (weather/condition/light dependant)
Return to Local Car Park: 21:15
Meeting Address: Red Lion Pub car park, Langley Park Road (SL0 0JZ)
*Limited to 3 spaces per session (feel free to book with family and/or friends)

The Hide
The hide itself is spacious and large enough for four photographers although there will only ever be three guests shooting at the same time to make sure you have plenty of space. The structure has been sunk low into the ground to give all photographers the optimum shooting angle. The hide is equipped with office chairs so that you can sit comfortably throughout the session.
Equipment
A lens anywhere from 300mm on a crop sensor camera to a 500mm/600mm on a full frame camera will work well. Tom uses either a 400mm or 500mm from the hide. In regards to supporting your lens, the hide has both lens plates and bean bags so you will only need to bring your tripod head if you wish to use the lens plate option. In order for you to take the best images from the day, it is important to remain quiet and avoid moving your lens too quickly. Most foxes are used to the sound of shutters but it is advisable to be selective with the images you take.
Clothing
The walk to the hide is only three minutes but suitable footwear is required if the ground is wet. Please make sure you are not wearing any light or bright clothes on the day so that you can be well hidden in the hide. If the weather is hot through the summer months, then it can be warm in the hide.
